The other day, I closed Dogz 5, then the next morning, the game had crashed. It does this every time I install Petz, no matter if I have no adopted Dogz, or lots of them. It does it every single time I reinstall it. The system I use is Windows XP.

Did you try setting the pixels different in your computer's properties? To 1024 by 768? Because, that's what petz needs to run properly.

The pixels may be it, but it wouldn't let you on at all if you don't have that set...so maybe you need to set the colors on your computer differently? I'm not really sure...

Hmm. How long have you used it for? And is it both Catz 5 and Dogz 5 on the same disk? Because you might need to copy something over for it to work properly. I have a copied game and I needed to copy something over on the Catz 5 section for the game to work. But I'm not sure how yours works. It might be easier just to buy a separate copy of the game.
